When solving problems, do not confuse the speed of approach with the “total speed”, which is calculated by the sum of the entire speeds.

Suppose two cyclists are moving towards each other. The speed of the first - 16 km / h, and the second - 20 km / h. How fast does the distance between them change? Substituting our data into the formula V = 16 + 20, we learn that the approach speed in this case is 36 km / h.

If two turtles participate in the races, one of which moves at a speed of 3 km / h and the other 1 km / h, the rendezvous speed will turn out to be 2 km / h based on the formula V = V1 - V2.
