• Delicious recipe for pork fat in a brine with garlic

    Salo in brine is popular not only in Ukraine, but also in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia and many other countries. By itself brine is a saturated solution of salt that can be used for salting fish, meat and fat. Salo in this solution is incredibly tasty, soft and juicy.


    • 5 tbsp. water
    • 2 kg of fat
    • 1 tbsp. salt
    • 5-8 cloves of garlic
    • 10 pieces. black peppercorns
    • 3-5 bay leaves


    1. Bring water to a boil, reduce heat and add salt. Wait for the salt to dissolve completely.

    2. Cut the lard into not very large bars and put it vertically in a three-liter jar. Between the bars arrange bay leaves, peas of black pepper and chopped garlic.

    3. Fill the pieces of fat with brine and loosely cover the lid with a jar. Put the jar in a cool place. After 2 weeks, the fat will be ready!
